Age UK Calderdale & Kirklees exists to help all the older people in Calderdale & Kirklees make the most of life, staying happy, healthy, independent and safe.

We provide a range of services including wellbeing centres, domestic services and an information and advice service.

We also offer a range of insurance products, a handyman service, a range of mobility products, befriending service in Calderdale, and much more.

Advice and Information

Free information and advice - available on a range of issues from welfare benefits and tribunals, money matters, consumer issues, and much more. 

Home visits can be arranged if you find it difficult to make it into the office. 

We can also offer short legal advice sessions from local solicitors at no charge. Call to make an appointment.

Befriending Services

Befriending - volunteers visit you in your own home providing a friendly face and support on outings to the shops or social activities 

Wellbeing Centres

Meeting new friends, having a chat and a cuppa and taking part in activities makes us all feel better. Our Companionship Centres offer this and much more. Transport can be provided, a tasty 2 course lunch is served and activities and services include outings, arts and crafts, quizzes, hairdressing and bathing (depending on location). Our friendly staff look forward to welcoming YOU!

We can supply you with a range of scooter and wheelchair hire and sales, grab rails, security and mobility products to help ensure your independence and wellbeing.

Overnight / Holiday Scooter or Wheelchair Hire
We have a number of car boot scooters that fold up for easy transport in your car, wheelchairs and wheeled walkers which can all be hired overnight or by the week if you are having a weekend away or going on holiday. 

We also have portable ramps for weekly hire.

Scooter or Wheelchair Hire
To make it easier getting around the centre of Halifax, we have a selection of powerchairs (different sizes available), manual wheelchairs and walkers for rent by the hour for a very reasonable charge.

Shopmobility is about the freedom to get around; you do not need to be registered disabled to use the service.
We hire manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, powered scooters and wheeled walkers to members of the public with limited mobility. It is for anyone, young or old, whether their disability is temporary or permanent. It is available for those with injuries, long or short term disabilities – anyone who needs help with mobility. It is advisable to book in advance to make sure of your choice but it is not necessary and altho the powerchairs are very easy to use, we can give you full instructions.
